2008 AREA CALENDAR

*JAN. 25-26                 GREATER WASHINGTON CHRISTIAN EDUCATION ASSOC. CONVENTION

Location:  High Point High School, 3601 Power Mill Rd., Beltsville, MD 20705

Theme:  "God is LIGHT . . . Moving from Darkness to LIGHT in Christian Education"

This annual event will include praise and worship times before the four general sessions, and hundreds of workshops on early childhood, elementary, youth, college and adult education.  Get more information or register at www.gwcea.org or by calling 301-261-6050.  Registration is $50 by November 30, 2007; $60 by January 18, 2008; or $65 at the door.

 

MARCH 15                   BIBLE BOWL FOR  4TH THROUGH 8TH GRADE

Questions (drawn from a study guide) will be based on Exodus chapters 1-34 and Joshua chapters 1-24 (from the NAS version).  Each team consists of 4 youth.  Congregations are not limited in the number of teams they may bring.  Teams will answer 120 questions during the main competition.  Top scoring teams enter the semifinals and finals.  A study guide of about 700 questions is available upon request or is downloadable from the website, www.camphillcofc.org.  More information or registration for the Bible Bowl is also on the website.  Whether your group participates or not, send Dave Miller a message at BibleBowl@camphillcofc.org verifying your youth contact person.

This annual event, sponsored by the PG church and Dr. Bruce McClure for Washington Metropolitan area married couples, will take the form of a Caribbean Islands cruise in 2008 onboard the Royal Caribbean’ Majesty of the Sea.  Participants will benefit from spiritual and clinical counseling while enjoying quality time with their spouse.  All meals, live shows, sporting events included.  For details, visit www.pg-coc.org, where you can also make reservations.  Cost is $749.82 - $829.82 per couple, with a down payment of $200 due by August 20, 2007.  Two additional payments are due Oct. 15, 2007 and January 15, 2008.  Gratuities included in posted prices.  Passport required.

TEENS WORSHIP AWAY (TWA) – 4:00 or 4:30 PM

This is an area-wide gathering of about 100 teens usually held on the 3rd Sunday of each month.  Games, devotional, singing, food, fellowship, and fun.  Call Myron Harper if you need any additional information. AREA LEADERS’ MEETING & LUNCH – 2nd Tuesday of the month, 10:30 AM–1 PM

Unless otherwise noted, meetings will be at Silver Spring Church of Christ, 100 E. Franklin Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20901. Please bring a sack lunch or other provisions for yourself.
